Plankton workshop in Naoshima
During my residency at the Art Island Center in Naoshima island, Japan, in October 2025, I gave a plankton workshop to local island children. We collected plankton from the Seto Inland Sea with a scientific grade sampling net, at the Miyanoura port, then we observed our catch under the microscope (with the little, yet powerful portable Curiosity microscope). The children then made super cute drawings of their observations (featuring diatoms, ciliates & dinoflagellates), which we then converted to cyanotype art!
