Plankton workshop in Naoshima
During my residency at the Art Island Center in Naoshima island, Kagawa, Japan, I gave a plankton workshop to local island children. We collected plankton from the Seto Inland Sea with a scientific sampling net (same used in scientific expeditions), at the Miyanoura port, then we observed our catch under the microscope (Curiosity). The children then made super cute drawings of their observations (featuring diatoms, ciliates & dinoflagellates), which we then converted to cyanotype art.
