Red Dot

The Red dot series is an ongoing study, begun in 2022. It is a visual travel diary as well as a study of the power of color to convey emotions, its power to disrupt.

This series consists of images with circular contours, as if one was looking through a porthole or telescope. The show glimpses, fragments of clouds, sky, sea, or the Amazon River, captured using the cyanotype technique with negatives of photographs taken during my scientific missions in Brazil, Argentina, Japan, and France. Using a bright red Japanese pigment, a round dot is painted by hand, creating a focal point that breaks up the blue monochrome of the image, diverting the viewer's attention and creating an alternative perception.
